About 45 min ago I was in the yard and the cat came by sending bill into a frenzy. (Lexi didn't even blink bless the wee poppet) when he finally came back I made him sit and gave him a lecture (an by that I mean I actually sat an said he shouldn't chase cats it very bad lmao) then I made him sit and wait to eat dinner then I made him step back and wait to go through the door.

Just now went out to get something from the car and let the dog out as usual and he goes running right for the cat door and I shouted oi! And he slowed. Then I shouted again and he actually looked around! Then I pointed and said in and gosh darn it the bloody thing listened!

Keep up the great training. He will get the message if you're consistant. I used to carry a little water pistol when mine were training so I could tell them off if I couldnt get there in a sec. laughing worked a treat & am now using it with my kitten when she dosent listen.

He listened again last night happy but not first time, he got to the bush that the cat lives in and went into it but i shouted again and he came out and i said "go" to indicate away from the bush and he did happy Still don't think that he would listen if there was an actual cat there thogh.

Just praise like crazy and tell him how wonderful he is. You'll get there.

Could be that he just isn't used to cats. Once he gets used to them, the novelty might wear off!

You're going to have to do something about that or get someone to help you.
I would give him a sharp Uhuh everytime he looks at the catdoor and the moment he looks away praise. The pacing, searching it's all feeding his obsession and you have to teach him it's undesired behaviour.

Yeah i slap the couch anytime he is doing it and he will go and lie down but posistion himself so he can still see, but i again slap the couch and he will put his eaers down and look away. So he knows what it is im asking and knows what behaviour is undesired. I've found that he is a little smidge better if you ask himto back up and make him wait before going outside, takes his mind off it a little. But he hasn't seen a cat now for two days (they come in the back door now), i think if he saw one again it woul dbe back to square one.

On another note, he has started to play a little. He has a bone he loves and if you throw it he will go and get it and walk towards you but veer away. Exactly the same as lexi does laughing

They probably want you to chase them.

With the couch slap give a verbal command. You can use that to mark any wrong behaviour outside as well.
