The kitchen isn't as big as I'd like, and the 3rd bedroom is quite small, but it's somewhere to live!

Re: yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!
It looks beautiful and very neat.
It'll also probably be nice to have the use of both your doors?

Re: yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!
No, no grass, but we don't have grass here, either.
And anyway, Dempsey rarely goes to the toilet in the garden - he feels that's quite disgusting!

Then were does he go?
Mine are trained to use the yard so they don't go on friends properties or in the street.

He'll go in the street or park, but not the garden!

Caryll, it all looks lovely. Open fireplaces - what joy - especially the living room one with its beautiful surround.

The open fires aren't actually 'open', but they look nice.
The rest of the place will be comfortable enough once it's all sorted out & things put away!

Oh that's a pity Caryll. I'd love to be able to have an open fire occasionally, yes I know it's messy, time consuming and expensive but so cheering and cosy!
Ah well, your new home still looks lovely and welcoming; I'm so happy for you (((hugs)))

Re: yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!
Where we are now has an open fire in the living room. We stopped using it years ago - too much hassle. It had to be cleaned annually, swept out, topped up with coal several times during the evening & deposited soot everywhere!

Re: yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!
Yes I do remember all the hassle! Open fires were our only means of house warming throughout my childhood - in fact into my early married years until 1974 when hubby and I moved into a central-heated home, with no fireplace whatsoever.
Ah nostalgia - you forget all the bad bits!

Re: yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!
Yes, it was open fires when I was growing up as well - along with the good old London smogs! I certainly don't miss those!
An open fire is beautiful, so warming and pleasant. Until the soot blows down the chimney & coats everything in sight, and you have to fetch and carry the coal from the cellar, and clean out the grate every day!

Re: yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!
Yes I conveniently forget all that (plus the chimney fires!) when I'm feeling nostalgic! Oh, and putting a sheet of newspaper over the front of the fire to get it to "draw" - it usually worked but sometimes the sheet of paper caught fire or got sucked up the chimney!
I don't remember London smogs because I lived in the country, but my mum taught and lodged in Barking in the late '40s and tells me (often!) how you she used to feel her way along the fences to find her way home, and it even got into the rooms so she could hardly see her way across them. Even in the '60s if anyone talked about going to London they were going "up the Smoke". And in London if you touched anything you got filthy black.
We have a lot to be grateful for these days, not least the Clean Air Act.
Anyway, back to your house move! You must be very busy packing everything up - I do hope that everything goes as smoothly as possible and you'll soon be settled in

It looks lovely Caryll
I have vague memories of scary adverts about smog in the 70's. It was a sort of cartoon dark smog monster going over rooftops.
