Getting a tattoo Empty Getting a tattoo

Post by Shisa Tue Jan 06, 2015 11:32 am

I've been wanting to get one for ages but never seem to get around to it.
I decided to get Xan's paw print on my left wrist. As he's my first 'my dog' he will represent for everyone I have, everyone I am still to have and those I have lost.

I'll get to the studio next week so we can tweak the design but this is the basis:
Xan's right paw.

Thinking of putting a little heart into the pad.

Did you take it from an ink pad of his paw? It really looks like a true paw print not a "paw print pic".

Yes, inpad and ink and his right paw.
It's not as easy to do as you'd think laughing They have to hold very still when you press on the paper and you have to put it down and lift straight up.
I got about 7 smudges and this one isn't perfect but then, it shouldn't be.

These are the 2 ideas I'm considering

I love these Watercolour tattoos. They're so beautiful.

Or more simple - just his print with the little heart in.

Getting a tattoo Pawprinttattoo

Depends on what the tattoo-ist can do.

I like the second one best with the little heart in it - what size were you thinking of getting it done - life size?

No, small and unobtrusive. It's personal and I don't want it to be in your face and having to talk about it to everyone.
I'm thinking maybe 2cm in diameter.
It has to be the left wrist because that's the working side and lead holding hand tongue

I actually like both but I really like this one.
Would you also have a phrase or his name done or just the print to both remember Xan, yet represent all your dogs?

I love the black and white one with the heart - it says so much, but is so simple.

My appointment is for Wednesday.
The tattooist said because I'm going with a small tattoo the heart won't really show so a waste of the extra money for the extra ink and also because it's small any text will look disproportionate. He doesn't do letters smaller than 1cm high as after a few years the e's and a's bleed and you can't see what they were. It reflects on his workmanship and he won't do it.
I didn't have the watercolour pic with me so will take it along wednesday and we can decide if it'll work.
