Arthritis Empty Arthritis

Post by Caryll Wed Feb 18, 2015 7:46 pm

Well, I have the results of my scan & it isn't very good.

I have severe arthritis in my left knee, and one of the cushions thin goes in my knee is almost completely destroyed & the other is damaged.

I have to see an osteopathist & discuss the way forward, but it's probably an operation.

Caryll, I am so sorry to hear that.

You might remember that I have much the same problem (although mine is "escaping kneecaps" ! in the words of my consultant), but basically it's severe arthritis, and I had a partial knee replacement in March last year.

It took a lot of getting over but I'm glad I had it done as my knee is much better than it was, although I have to admit not perfect.

If you'd like to discuss further with a fellow sufferer you can PM me or I think you have my personal email address. Or on here, if you prefer!

If none of these I quite understand and wish you the very best - try not to worry (easier said than done I know), but good old NHS will do their very best for you hug hug hug hug hug

We can all be thankful we live in this time. Imagine a 200 years ago you'd have had to suffer or maybe develop a opium addiction to get over the pain and the leeches.

Good luck! Arthritis is a bastard.

I hope they can work something out for you to ease the pain - and as Eleanor said, your family will pull you through.

My mums 93yr old friend has had both knees replaced & 1 hip. She wants the other hip done. shocked

My step dads had one knee & looking to do his other soon.

Seems if you are methodical with exercising correctly after, no matter the discomfort initially it is brilliant!

If its just a shaving/cleaning of the joint? You should recover very quickly.

I won't really know what can/will be done until I can see the osteopathist. How long that'll take, I have no idea!

The anti inflammatory pills do go a long way to making life bearable, but I won't be running around the mountains any time soon!
