Final countdown

Long time no speak guys and gals

But I'm 38+2 weeks pregnant now and due a week on Friday which is the 19th, I'm having a homebirth for those that don't know, and was just waiting on the hospital ringing me which they did Friday afternoon to say I was now at the top of the waiting list for the birth pool hire and I could collect it, so we went yesterday afternoon to pick it up and now just waiting for bubba to make their grand entrance.

Last saw my midwife a week or so ago and baby was full engaged then so haven't been able to walk normally for a while now lol and she has estimated a 9lb 5 baby and their growth has followed that line the whole way through but we shall wait and see!

It's a smaller baby then I was haha! Big babies run in the family

Is it a blow-up pool Ella? (Like an oversized child's paddling pool) And then do you run the water in through a hose or buckets?

I remember not being able to walk properly with my first baby, and I just can't imagine constructing a pool and filling it with water in that condition, never mind in the first stages of labour! But I guess all this has been gone into and fine action plan has been worked out.

Sorry about all the questions Ella, but I've never come across anyone who has had a water birth and I'm fascinated. I have heard that it is a wonderfully relaxing way to give birth.

Yeah they are specially made blow up pools, so have handles to hold onto and a little 'seat' in the pool. You fill it up with a hose attached to a tap. But the pool comes with a pump to blow it up so only takes a few minutes.

I'm quite happy to start getting the pool started if Martin isn't here when labour starts, but he doesn't work far and he can leave the moment I ring him, but really it's dead easy.

Water birth isn't for everyone but water has always been an amazing pain reliever for me whereas it might not be for the next person. But you are very limited to what pain relief you can have at a home birth whereas I just want the water

Oh good, Martin will be on red alert and can be with you in minutes - excellent. Just leave all the pool stuff to him!

Here you are Lynda we did a dry run of the pool today, took less then 5 mins to fully blow up

Looks good! Now you wait ........... the last few days are the longest!

I LOVE the pool haha can't wait to get to use it oh I'm excited can't believe its so close now!

Yeah I've had plenty babies has been fully engaged for over two weeks, and had plenty of sporadic contractions but no pattern to them yet!

I've enjoyed seeing all the toys etc you've made - so clever!

Can't wait to hear the sex. Feels like only yesterday we were all guessing!!!
