Hope it's feeling better! Is the physio going okay?

Re: How's your knee Lynda?
Ah, you're so kind!
I've got to admit that I was over optimistic in how fast I would recover from this surgery. Big-headed me thought I would be leaping around like a spring chicken by now (4 weeks on) but I know better now, a knee replacement is a major op and a lot of hard work to recover from.
Well, my knee is stiff, although I am progressing by slow degrees. My physio is wonderful - explains what every exercise is for and how exactly it will help me and is so encouraging. he doesn't bully me to go beyond my limits of what is achievable for me, which is a huge relief.
I have some way to go yet, but I do feel I'm getting there.

Re: How's your knee Lynda?
Thank you my darlings. I've got to admit that for the first week or two I seriously questioned my wisdom in allowing this thing to happen to me. In my struggle to regain "normal" usage of this knee it is easy to forget, as I do all too often, how badly my old crappy knee impacted on my life.
Yes, I'm sure it will be worth it in the end, and I am continuing onwards and upwards!

Thank you !
As an aside, I can now understand much more what all those poor dogs who suffer from luxating (?) patellas go through, both before and after surgery.

That's great it's going well. I'm the same expecting things to be all healed in a couple of weeks. It's frustrating when you realise it's going to take a while. The physiotherapist sounds really good x

Yes I'm very lucky with the physio I got. I was terrified because the physios bullied me horribly in the hospital the day after the op and hurt me awfully, but this guy is more like Ella's Aaron.

Re: How's your knee Lynda?
Emotional healing is just as important as physical healing. If you're uncomfortable and stressed during the physio, the physical healing is likely to take longer - the person you had before should have known better.

Re: How's your knee Lynda?
Good point Eleanor. My guy does understand this, and says I need to build up confidence in my new knee and what it can do, which also means pushing up to but not beyond the pain barrier. The first physio made me push on beyond the point of agony and that's what scared me.
Fortunately, our dogs just won't allow themselves to be pushed too far.

Sounds like he knows what he's talking about!
They'll go above and beyond for us, but they'll always tell us when enough is enough - we just need to listen!
