Yuck!
A cloud of starlings obviously thought that the living room window was an ideal place to target practice. Five seconds later and the window is covered in a streaky mess of bird poo. Luckily, I'd closed the window a few minutes before because the wind was picking up!

Re: Yuck!
I do love them! There are a couple in our garden who imitate car alarms non-stop!

Re: Yuck!
I heard one squeaking like a guinea pig once, and I've heard them imitating a phone ring!

I know starlings are good imitators, but I do love hearing their natural twittering and eeeeh sounds - it always takes me back to my childhood.

It's a happy summer sound isn't it.
btw, has anyone seen a swallow, house martin or swift yet, or heard a cuckoo? I haven't.

Re: Yuck!
It is! Just like the sound of a blackbird's full song at the beginning of summer!
We had a barbecue last weekend and saw/heard a few swifts catching insects. Quite high up, but no mistaking the wing shape and movements!
