Still haven't been able to get the vacuum cleaner to work. Should we blame James or Dempsey?

It's been driving me insane!
No luck. Even tried using the other socket, in case it was that stopping it from working.

Re: Mum
All i can suggest is unplug it, completely rewind the cable, then pull it out about half way & try again !

First things I did.
Seriously, it's packed in. Won't start at all.

We have wall-to-wall carpeting and a dog whose hairs are like little arrow tips, embedding themselves into the carpet! Not sure a broom would do it!

Thanks - you'll need to pay for my flight to Australia, though!

If you vac my floors 1st? Worth the cost!
Give it 6hrs. See if the motor was too hot.

Did you check for a guilty face? Normally gives the guilty party away. Human or k9. Maybe it's just given up the ghost?Eleanor wrote:Still haven't been able to get the vacuum cleaner to work. Should we blame James or Dempsey?

Re: Mum
I'll pass - too hot out there for me!
I doubt the motor was too hot. It's been sitting around for a while, but wouldn't start at all when I got it out to use it.
James was still asleep and Demps avoids the vacuum cleaner like the plague! The vacuum cleaner has been going wrong for a while now. It stops when the power cord is pulled out too much, so you have to draw it back in for a bit.

Re: Mum
It pulled the wiring loose from the main body, so yep.
Demps hates the vacuum cleaner with a passion. He'll usually avoid it, unless somebody shoves it in his face and he can't back off.

Re: Mum
I was going to suggest that you try changing the fuse in the plug, in case it's blown. But if it has loose wires drifting around then not only would they be likely to short and (hopefully) blow the fuse which is what it's there for, but if it didn't blow the fuse the whole damn thing might become live which doesn't bear thinking about.

I'll leave all that to the parent folk! I have to preserve my reputation as an arrogant, lazy person for as long as possible.

I wouldn't call it carefree! You should have heard the language from me earlier today! Not with anybody around to hear it, of course.

What a mission.
These contraptions are supposed to make our lives easier but they have so much more that can go wrong.
