My last cigarette
First topic message reminder :
I just stubbed out the last cigarette that, fingers crossed, I will ever smoke.
This afternoon I bought a posh electronic cigarette. It's called Itaste Leo and in 6 days it should have paid for itself and then I'll start saving money. It came with two vials of liquid - I chose Apple and Espresso flavours. Best thing is that, unlike other electronic cigs I have tried, this one delivers the same nicotine kick but with a satisfying flavour.
Fingers crossed I will kick a 50 year habit!

Love ya!
My smoking days are OVER - touch wood. For now I'm vapeing, until I kick Nick O'Teen out for good. (I nearly said I was steaming, then thought - NO)

Re: My last cigarette
Cant give up the morning one, nor the lunch or after dinner one. I'm also trying to give up my evening glass of wine because..... ohhhh a wine & a cigarette after dinner. Uhhhh, I do enjoy both.LyndaW wrote:Me? Not too bad, thanks. Evenings and times of extreme stress (like a hundred times every day!) are the worst, but it's gradually getting more bearable - baby steps!
Tracy?

I tried a vaporiser. I had no luck. Its in the draw now.LyndaW wrote:I haven't got any cigarettes in the house to tempt me. I am sucking on my vaporiser which is almost as good.
Good luck Tracy with your plan - sounds as if it's working for you!
I got an app from play store. You have to press a button to let it know when you smoke. It asks you to wait for longer periods ea day. (Can you wait 11 mins gradually increasing over time to, can you wait 2hrs?) It has taken over 2 mths but with willpower it has worked for me.

I think it's probably something very personal to each individual, so different things would have varying levels of success. Good luck to both of you!

Re: My last cigarette
I think you're right Eleanor.
The after brekkie, lunch and dinner ones are definitely the hardest to kick, which is why I love this itaste Leo - it almost gives me the satisfaction I crave from a ciggie. I've tried other electronic cigarettes in the past but they were pants. This thing is expensive but I think it will be worth it.
5 days from stubbing out my last real ciggie, I am already finding that I am without thinking about it cutting down on the amount that I puff and am feeling optimistic about eventually doing without my vaporiser also.
Your app sounds good Tracy, and I'm glad it's working for you!
Hands across the continents Tracy - we'll do it!

Re: My last cigarette
Tracy, so sorry to read about your dad
Lynda that's brilliant, well done!
I just bought an ego-t vapouriser this week. It's one of the cheaper ones so i don't know how good it will be. I'm still at the stage of saying I'm going to stop smoking, as I'm lighting up. I managed to stop before so I know I can do it, just need to get back into that mindset.

Re: My last cigarette
If my dad's, my sister's or my experience can help to convince even one person to stop smoking. To stop the heartache of a loved family member or friend.
I know dad would be happy for me to tell the world of his final yrs & what can happen.
The harsh reality is selecting a funeral director, writing a eulogy, picking the last clothes they will ever wear & selecting a coffin as you ring every brother, sister or friend.
Caroline, Lynda....try, try, try, try, try! I know I will in dad's memory.

Re: My last cigarette
How's it going Lynda xx
I started by delaying my first cigarette until it was one whole hour before I had one (that's a long time if you are a heavy smoker)
The ones after meals were really hard but now it's not a problem
Keep it up xx

Re: My last cigarette
I'm finding evenings the hardest now - when I'm trying to relax!
During the day is getting better. The good thing about the vaporiser is that I can have a couple of puffs and if that is enough (and increasingly I am finding that it is) then I stop. No need to finish a burning cigarette to prevent wasting it!
Well done for practising your delaying tactics Tracy. It wouldn't work for me with real cigarettes because a) I have no willpower and b) I would be counting the minutes so the thought would always be there in front of me. But I'm going to try it with the vaporiser because ideally and eventually I don't want to be using that either.
We'll get there girls!

Don't beat yourself up about it Tracy - that slip is understandable and temporary.
I'm still vapeing! It's still a bit of a struggle but it's only been a week and a day since my last ciggie ...............
