What would you say?

A friend of mine had a Facebook fit about dogs and how she hates them and that people who own them and like them are idiots. So being an old friend of mine I reminded her that I'm one of those people.
Hours later she replies that her comments stand and that it doesn't make her less of a person of her for not liking them.

Well I am (very!) pissed off. How do you call your friend of almost 20 years a idiot and then say it doesn't make you less of a person?

I saw that status - wondered what it was about!

To each their own; if she doesn't like dogs, fair enough. But to label everybody who does like dogs as an idiot? Not nice. Especially if, as you said, she has long-term friends with dogs.

I think it's actually quite sad, in a way, that her definition of an idiot is subject to whether or not a person seeks companionship in a dog.

Well, I don't mean to be rude but....

I don't like people who don't like dogs or if my dogs don't like someone, it tells me alot. It says more to me than anything a person does.

My german gran always said... if a dog is wary of someone.... mind your step or trust! A dog knows humans better than you.

Again I dont mean to be rude but.... she's a d1ckhead!

I'm mad. She could have said I don't mean you or anything silly thing but as usual it's all about her.

It's a very insensitive thing to say... I know some people don't like to sugar-coat, but there's a difference between being blunt and being nasty.

Sounds like something has happened to rile her up. That's no excuse though; its bad manners and if I were you I'd be very offended by it.

No reason, nothing happened.
This is just me but if someone loves something I don't like I just don't comment or mention it. Maybe I should tell her how idiotic she looks in the blue eyeshadow she constantly wears?

I feel like that would be the nicer option. It's not like somebody was holding her at gunpoint to say that; she could have taken into account that her comment might offend her friends, and just not said it.

I get told im stupid by friends and family every day for liking horses and anything i like (like games etc) again i have just had to give up caring.

That's a shame. Friends should support each other's interests even if those interests aren't theirs!
