Oh she's gorgeous
When you're up to it Ella, I'd love to know her birth weight and if the water bath lived up to your expectations.

Re: Congratulations Ella and Martin...
She was 8lb 8.5oz
The birth didn't go to plan haha I was in labour for 41 hours at home with Mya back to back so never felt any contractions at the front. I did get to use my pool which was amazing for pain relief and spent a good few hours in there in between walking round and bouncing on the ball. Went through 6 midwife shift changes who were all lovely, and I was asked if I minded a student being present as she was calling the second midwife so there would be three present which I didn't mind. Student turned up and when it got to the next examination she had a go and couldn't work out where Mya was so Margaret had a feel and said I was 9cm then but that she thought Mya was breech which had never been detected. So she rang 999 and we were blue lighted to hospital and she was born by emergency c section 25 mins later, turns out she was breech but was stuck with her being back to back and it was never picked up! So didn't get my homebirth but labouring at home was amazing and next time I will try for homebirth without a doubt

Re: Congratulations Ella and Martin...
Mya - you chunky monkey. And how could you hide being upside down?!
I'm glad the water pool helped you in the earlier stages, Ella. My first baby "only" caused back pains too (and don't they nip!) for quite a long time, and I'm sure that a relax in a warm bath would have helped me. I'm so glad you found great benefit from it. Of course, this was over 40 years ago when things were very different, and thank heavens my baby was smaller (6lb 14oz) and more importantly head first!
Were you conscious (ie epidural) for the c-section? I have known a couple of mums for whom this was possible, but I think they were pre-planned, for one reason or another, so not an emergency.
I hope you recover from your tummy-tuck very quickly, and look forward to seeing more of Mya!
Take care of yourself Ella, no walking the dogs for a day or two!

Re: Congratulations Ella and Martin...
Haha yep she's a chunky monkey alright
Yes I was awake for the c section thankfully and I must admit they stuck to my wishes as much as possible with it being an emergency so they delayed cutting the cord and used my cord ties not to plastic clip etc and then given straight to me and not taken away. I was really hoping I wouldn't need a section as I so wanted to breastfeed and I know it can make it harder but I didn't need to worry as she bfs like a pro!
They reckon that the breech wasn't detected due to her position and a hard bum lol making it feel like her head!
But we are all good and at her weigh in she only lost a tiny bit of weight from her birth weight so they were thrilled with that too

Re: Congratulations Ella and Martin...
I'm sure that if everything had gone fairytale perfect you wouldn't have wanted a C-section; not many mums would (although some do!) What needs to be done, needs to be done in the best interests of mum and baby. It's great that you could welcome Mya into the world.
As for breastfeeding, it comes naturally to a baby. The most important thing above all is that you are relaxed, comfortable, and not anxious at all. And it sounds as if you are both doing fine!
Ella, you're doing great!
