new owner is being ridiculous. Probably because the rescue would never give them their $300 back.

I should think that the owners of the lost dog would be only too pleased to pay $300 to get their dog back - for its rescue, care, shelter and food, in gratitude for such. This could then be refunded to the frustrated new owners. The rescue would be out of pocket, but an additional donation should help the rescue to continue its good work. The adoptees may very well be disappointed but they will have got their money back and should be glad that the dog goes back to its original family.

I think the Rescue was probably hasty in rehoming a dog so soon. And doesn't it point out how vital it is to get our beloved pets chipped as soon as is possible, then all this heartache and money squabbles would have been avoided.

The family offered to pay all the fees but they just keep saying they can't take a dog back and the other family refuse to get involved.
