Mylo and our new born Empty Mylo and our new born

Post by Mylo14 Sun Mar 30, 2014 12:11 pm

Hi everyone!!

I've had my little terror! I had him at home on march 25th, 19:23pm!! He was a whopping 10 pound 4.5 ounces! Needless to say I'm still in agony lol! I'm only a size 6/8 and had a tiny bump so it was a huge shock to everyone! We've named him Joseff Stephen happy

When I was in labour mylo went to my parents house so he didn't get stressed as I laboured at home. And then when he was born we took the towel he was wrapped in to mylo so he could get the scent. We brought him home Friday, and he sniffed the Moses basket, bouncer floor then sniffed baby and licked him. Every day he sniffs him a few times and just lays next to him.

We were all expecting him to be jealous. And now I'm panicking that he is being jealous or we've done something wrong because he literally doesn't seems to care.

Any insight? What were your dogs like with a newborn baby?

Xxx

Hiya! Nice to see you again! happy Congratulations on your little bundle of joy!

Youch! That must have been difficult! Sounds like you introduced Joseff (great name by the way) to Mylo perfectly! I bet they'll be the best of friends! tongue

Tbh, it sounds like he's reacting in the ideal way! He's accepted your baby into the house and is content with him being there! happy

Wow, congratulations! What a size - ouch! shocked  Love the name. love

I really wouldn't worry too much about Mylo's reaction. If he was jealous I think you'd have seen signs such as pacing, attention seeking, even avoidance of going near the baby. It seems like he's taken it all in his stride, lovely boy!

You do realise that we'll need some up to date photos?

Oh, and we now have a facebook page up and running - would you like to have some Mylo pics on it?

Thank you happy

Oh it was a difficult one! Everyone can't believe I managed to have him at home with him being a chunk and my first baby happy!

Oh good, we were worried that he was hiding his jealousy or something be it seems like he simply doesn't care he's here lol. Just laying next to him all the time

No he hasn't done anything like that. Just sniffs baby loads and stands over him when people are here lol.

Oh yes. I'll check that out now happy xxx

Dogs don't really hide jealousy - it isn't really in their nature. If they don't like something you can normally spot it. Sometimes it's just excessive lip licking or not wanting to look at something they don't like. Sounds like Mylo's fine with Joseff being there; well done for introducing him carefully! thumbs up

The laying next to him and sniffing him is a sign that he's comfortable with Joseff, so that's great! happy I think it's really good for a child to be able to grow up with a dog and I bet Mylo will be the perfect big brother!

Oh good happy I shall stop worrying then haha.

Yes, I grew up with a dog and he was my best buddy! He passed away last year at 15. He was amazing.

I hope they'll be best of pals! Xx

Just so long as they're not left alone together - that's how accidents happen. But I'm sure you know that anyway! thumbs up

Oh I could never do that! I think it daft that people "just nip upstairs" poor child and poor dog for being left in a situation it got scared in!

Mylo has only ever been allowed in the living room for an hour in the morning and then after tea in the evening. And if we go upstairs he gets locked in the kitchen happy!

Definitely agree with you! No matter how sweet and friendly a dog is, there's always the chance that something could happen. Even something like the dog laying across the child in friendship could cause harm.

Sounds like you're being really sensible with it all! happy Really good to have you back on - was wondering how things were going!

Yes, they don't understand how fragile a baby is happy

Sorry, I've had a few issues to the end of my pregnancy. Broke a few ribs, fractured a lot of bones too! Think it's obvious why now lol. The little lump was crushing me inside out!
I was bed and sofa bound and dosed up on pain killers sad xxx

Hahha! I'm on the road to recovery. The other half is telling everyone I'm booked in for MOT at the end of April hahha. Need a full body X-ray and tests!! Joys of motherhood!

Oh bless you haha! Joseff was only 5 days late and he was a fatty.
I dread to think the size of my next one! (That'll be here years down the line haha) they only get bigger apparently sad! My poor body is going to be a walking bag of broken bones!

You've been through a lot, so give yourself time and be guided by your doctors and midwives.

Don't worry about your next pregnancies just now, just concentrate on recovering from this one!

I hope you have plenty of people to help you - your and your baby's progress take the priority at the moment; let others do the washing up etc!

AND, if at all possible, get some good rest, especially at night. If someone else can clean and feed Joseff, bring up his wind and comfort and entertain him during the evening hours when babies seem to be most restless (one of life's mysteries) then this will help you SO much, even if it can't be every night.

 hug
