That is a Aloe Ferox plant Caryll. I have 100's if not 1000's around my property.
That one is about 10-15 years old.

Is that where you get Aloe Vera from? Or are there different types?

They are different species. Aloe Ferox is supposedly better than Aloe Vera - more goodies in it.

I just wikipedia'd Aloe plants and there are a LOT!

Most of them are huge and they don't transplant very happily.
They'll start blooming soon and I'll get some pics up for you guys. It's beautiful to see.
