My last cigarette - Page 3 Empty My last cigarette

Post by LyndaW Sat Aug 23, 2014 7:37 pm

First topic message reminder :

I just stubbed out the last cigarette that, fingers crossed, I will ever smoke.

This afternoon I bought a posh electronic cigarette. It's called Itaste Leo and in 6 days it should have paid for itself and then I'll start saving money. It came with two vials of liquid - I chose Apple and Espresso flavours. Best thing is that, unlike other electronic cigs I have tried, this one delivers the same nicotine kick but with a satisfying flavour.

Fingers crossed I will kick a 50 year habit!

Ah that's encouraging to hear, thank you! I hope eventually to give up the vaporiser too because tbh it makes my mouth taste like the bottom of a parrot's cage. But at least my tongue is pink again! laughing

When the battery dies I recharge it. I won't deny that when I catch a whiff of a pukka cigarette I will gasp it in with ecstasy.

But even though the Vapes are giving me a sore throat and a very strange taste in my mouth, I will NOT give up trying to quit the whole thing absolutely. I won't, I won't, I won't.

Thank you Tracy!

My son has a friend downstairs in the utility room, aka glory hole aka kiddies playroom, who is smoking and it is torturing me when I catch a whiff. My vaporiser delivers nicotine so it's not that I'm missing - it must be the fragrant weed itself!

Two weeks tomorrow and I have already saved about £50 from going up in smoke and swelling the Government's bank roll.

You're getting there too Tracy, via your own different route - we can do it gal! hug

No it's no problem. I have to get used to the smell of it around and resist it, and better now when I am filled with zeal!

Still vape-ing, thanks Tracy!

I am feeling quite proud because a) it is now 3 weeks and b) I had a very stressful week last week and in times past I would have gone back to the ciggies big time, but it didn't even cross my mind.

How are you going?

Still on 3-4 a day. It's tough going. I need more nicotine!

I'm so pleased it's going so well for us both. I think we are both aware it's a slow ongoing process.

I wonder how Caroline is doing?

Tracy, the thing that has made all the difference to me is that my Vaper gives me a shot of nicotine! So it's a kind of halfway house towards giving up my drug of choice altogether - and I've saved a mint of money already!

My vaper had no nicotine, thus why i had no success. The meer taste doesn't replace the craving for the drug. & get this... it is legal to import & use nicotine vapers in Australia, but it is not legal to sell them here!
Work that one out? dunno
I've no idea about your laws but, We can even use a vaper at your desk at work or a restaurant here, where ever you like. Maybe thats why you cannot buy nicotine fluid in Australia.

The vapers with variously flavoured fluids and nicotine content have only recently (year or so at a rough guess) been available in the UK. Like you Tracy, I tried an e-cig a couple of years ago that had a vague taste of tobacco but nothing much else to recommend it - it was pants basically.

I am using Itaste Leo - I've tried to get a suitable link for you but failed, there are plenty of links out there though so look around. I bought mine in a legit shop in a local town.

If you can get hold of one, I would recommend that you don't try to replicate the genuine ciggie experience too closely ie tobacco taste. I'm using espresso during the day and apple in the evening.

"it is legal to import & use nicotine vapers in Australia, but it is not legal to sell them here!" I can't understand this at all - so maybe the answer is to buy via the internet from abroad.

As for where we in the UK can use vapers - there has been a bit of a furore about this recently. Basically, we are not allowed any more to smoke cigarettes in a public enclosed place. I can understand that those unfortunate people whose duty it is to persecute those people in a public enclosed place cannot be expected to investigate whether the puff of smoke/vapour is a puff of smoke or a puff of vapour.

This is all early days in our Governments' attempts to get us to give up the evil weed. What on earth will they do to replace the revenue in taxes when we all quit?!

We can't smoke in many open air places here. Vapours or e-ciggs are still alowed anywhere. (Though frowned apon)

As for taxes, here, the government is also trying to be seen to be doing "the right thing" but as our tobacco tax raises 12% every year the government will certainly be missing the revenue already as its getting to expensive & everyone quits.

I suppose that means, rates, electricity,  road tolls etc, will go up again to pay for healthcare etc.
