nearly got knocked down

The girls and I nearly didn't make it back from our walk yesterday afternoon. One of the roads we cross was changed to a one way system a few years ago and at some point in the last few days they have changed it back. I only looked one way, crossed after a bus passed and walked right in front of a car. God knows how the driver saw us coming behind the bus but I'm sooo glad he did. I'm normally over cautious when I'm crossing roads with the girls

I nearly got knocked down by car in similar circumstances a few years ago as I only looked one way when crossing as the road actually was a 1-way street. Unfortunately the woman driving the car that nearly did for me didn't know this and after wagging her head disapprovingly at me continued merrily up the road only to be brought to a halt by traffic coming towards her on the "wrong" side! I always look both ways in 1-way streets now!

I'm ok now, was a bit shaken up yesterday because I have no idea how the driver managed to stop.
I had crossed the road setting off on the walk and saw there was cones along the middle but they have been working on roads around here so I didn't think anything of it. Lynda I'll be looking both ways on all roads now.

I can imagine that you were very shaken up Caroline! I hope you are feeling better now.

Roads are a nightmare these days, and I speak both as a driver and as a pedestrian.

They could have at least put clear signs up, to let you know!

I know! My mum said that she had seen signs for it, then realised that maybe that was because she was in a car and the signs are at the ends of the road for drivers to see
