Dog at our vets has Alabama Rot

Glad he's making a full recovery. Luckily, we don't walk Demps in that particular park very often.

It's a shame they don't know very much about it.

Scary, but if you spot it early there's every chance of a full recovery.

Although it's speculation that the condition is actually Alabama Rot, it's best to be aware of the possibility. The racecourse is a large park, very popular with dog walkers & if it is AR then I would have expected more cases, but time will tell.

Still not something I'd want to gamble with. Let's face it: only a handful of dogs, out of hundreds walked in New Forest, were diagnosed as having contracted it.

True, and you won't be finding me walking anywhere near it!

Worrying though, let's hope it was a one-off.

It must be scary to think that it's around the corner from you.

Hopefully, if it is AR, it won't infect any other dogs in the area. At least people are being made aware, so that they can recognise potential symptoms.

Hopefully the vets will make the test results public asap. People need to know.

According to the RSPCA, it's now a confirmed case.

Oh bum.

Let's hope that the scientists out there can soon isolate what is causing it, and what can be done to prevent it. I can remember when parvo-virus suddenly hit inexplicably, and thanks to the clever people out there we can now protect our dogs from it.
