Checked Dempsey's mouth just now and noticed that he's chipped away a large amount of the enamel from one of his canines, probably as a result of chewing his stag bar. It doesn't seem like he's in any discomfort at the moment, but I'd rather it gets seen to sooner rather than later. Poor little guy isn't going to like this one bit!

He's got to go for his Lepto jab next month, so I'll get the vet to have a look at it then.

Poor Dempsey!

I'm afraid I was very lackadaisical about checking my first Dobermann's teeth (Zeta, in the banner), and didn't notice that anything was wrong until I saw a bump on her nose. It was an abscess on her canine tooth - she must have been in such pain and I never suspected a thing (bad, bad mummy).

You've reminded me that I should check into Kuchar's mouth again.

I hope Dempsey will be alright hug

He'll be fine - it isn't bothering him at all at the moment, but it'll get infected if nothing's done.

He shouldnt worry about a vet looking if its not painful? When are you taking him?

He'll be worried, regardless, I'm afraid. sad He's terrified of the vets. I think he'll be calmer if one of us were to hold his lips up/mouth open while the vet checks, though.

He's got his vaccinations coming up in a couple of weeks, I think. I daresay mum'll get it seen to then.

Yes, I'll mention it at his annual health check. He's okay with the vet lifting his lips, but I might hold his head still.

Tracy, it doesn't matter whether the vet hurts him or not, he's terrified! Just one of those things, caused no doubt by the amount of time he spent at the vets when he was younger!
