White worms in my lentils... Empty White worms in my lentils...

I've just cooked myself some red lentils, which are my favourite, but after a few mouthfuls I looked into the bowl and saw loads of little white worm-like things in there!  sick Looked it up online and thankfully they're just the embryo part of the lentil, but uuurrrrgggghhh! I thought an insect had gotten into my dried lentils and laid its nasty demon spawn in there! laughing

So they were just the roots sprouting? Like mung beans? What a relief!

Yeah, but probably because they weren't dried properly before being packaged, so it gave me a bit of a bad stomach. tongue All good now!

The little dried-up, tiny, red lentils we normally buy at AsTescRose couldn't sprout if they tried!

Well I'm blowed, who'd have thought it.

I'm going to dunk a few red lentils into a bowl of water and see what happens - and then eat them.

Well, sprouting beans or peas are supposed to be most nutritious, and I'm sure we all enjoy bean sprouts from our local Chinese take-away. Yummy!

laughing I usually dump a load of them into a jug, throw in some vegetable stock, fill it with hot water, then do the lazy thing by sticking it in the microwave for 10 mins on medium instead of cooking it properly on the hob.

It's not going to put me off eating lentils! They're my favourite! happy
