I feel bad that you had to cancel plans for your birthday because of your knee and remembered that you put up a few pictures of your Dobes a while ago. I'm not sure if this will help you feel better at all, but I think you deserve to have a forum present for your birthday, so I tried to restore the pictures. A couple aren't much different from the originals, but I hope you like them!

And Eleanor, you are a magician! Thank you so much for restoring some of my most precious photos. They were taken on a poor camera and when I scanned them several years ago it was done on a poor scanner with low resolution. My attempts at "sharpening" them made things worse, probably, and these days the modern technology is just beyond me   .

Oh my word, what a lovely kind birthday present, thank you so much once again   

I have had, and am still having, a lovely birthday. I had another unexpected and very welcome birthday present from my GP Practice Nurse today who told me that she is sure my knee infection has gone and that the wound is looking wonderfully clean and healthy, which is a great weight off my mind.

Now my lovely son is going to prepare me my most favourist dinner - pork chop and salad!

As you say - there's a first time for everything!  

No, I would never attempt to run a marathon in high heels, either before my op or after.

And I'll go further - I have never ever contemplated running a marathon in any footwear available, and have no desire to do so in my declining years.

If I can walk to and from my car that's all I ask!   

No marathons? I suppose we'll have to make do with a walk to and from the car then, as long as it's accompanied by inspirational music!

But I did omit to mention that I am looking forward to when I can walk Kuchar along my local riverbank which is bursting into spring life. Not long to go, I hope.

Fingers crossed - how long do they think it'll take before you can get out and about?

Well the magic number seems to be 6 weeks. I am not allowed to drive a manual car for 6 weeks after the op, and although my mum has offered me the use of her automatic car I just feel a bit too wobbly to drive just yet.

My local shops are about 150 yards away and within the next few days I aim to make the trip there and back on my crutches. Depends on how much the physio sets me back.

As for walking Kuchar - I just don't know.

You should treat yourself once a week! Use it as motivation to get through the physio!

I'll see what happens on Wednesday. That is the Mount Everest before me at the moment.
