Bad end to a good day !!!
Jees I am so annoyed with myself !!! Run in tonight with a stupid woman with an off lead and out of control 6 month old spaniel pup that knows no recall but "just wants to play" , once captured was let off again to come bounding to my 2 and I had to explain not all dogs are happy for dogs to come springing on them out of nowhere. Lets just say at the point when I was told my 2 on lead and perfectly well behaved and in this case non reactive dogs should be muzzled I sort of lost it a little and it went from there .

Oh dear. I must admit that I have been guilty in the past of suffering from He/She's Only a Puppy syndrome, but even I have never been daft enough to let my puppy go again immediately after annoying another dog.
I don't blame you for seeing red when she mentioned muzzles, unfortunately people are so protective of their own dogs that they can say silly things.
I hope you're feeling calmer now Dave (great to see you back btw)

Re: Bad end to a good day !!!
Lynda she didn't even put the pup on the lead which was in her pocket !! Just had him by the collar and let him go again 50m later . I know she had the lead in her pocket as I challenged her over not having one which to my amazement she pulled out at a distance and then put back in her pocket.
I really do not have a massive issue with the "only playing" scanario as long as they are apologetic , put the dog on the lead and accept responsibility.
As far as this woman was concerned any dog that could react to her dog running up out of control would be at fault and should be muzzled
And thankyou back for a little bit tonight , got a movie to watch soon

I don't blame you for being angry about it, Dave. Having to listen to self-righteous, ignorant people pin the blame on well-behaved dogs when they have no control over their own is bound to get people's backs up.
It's a shame, as in the long term, her dog will suffer because of her ignorance.

Re: Bad end to a good day !!!
we had one of those situations the other day, two off lead dogs allowed to run riot over our local park, they had no idea where their dogs were. Made a bee line straight for Chance, snarled in his face, 2 dogs ground into the floor, and they still didn't react

I don't blame you, I would have lost the rag over that. Why wave the lead around then put it back in her pocket! She is lucky your two were so good with it.
I didn't know you got a 1st place, well done you and Tommy

Re: Bad end to a good day !!!
It was a really tough 1st place but the boy did it and beat the competition hands down ................................ okay I'll tell the truth .. 2 entries and the other was a no show , the class was over in a flash started to stack him on the mat and the judge just told me to bring him straight to the middle , he was good as gold and showed well though so its all practice . He got a bit feisty in the best dog line up though and kept lunging for another dog on his movement that was really mouthy as the ring was tiny and they were all on top of each other so we got no further.

Every 1st place is good, Dave - the judge doesn't have to give it!
Shame about the mouthing off, but that's the problem with a small ring.

Re: Bad end to a good day !!!
Caryll's correct (as usual!) - I have heard of a judge with-holding first place to the only dog in a class if they felt the dog wasn't worthy, so well done Tommy! What a pity about the mouthy dog in best dog line up spoiling Tommy's chances - any dog would feel threatened confronted with that in a small space. It's all good experience.
2 Champ shows next weekend - wow! Wishing you and Tommy all the very best of luck and oh, btw, please don't forget to let us know how you get on!

Good! Some people need to be told! Maybe she will rethink her dogs training and care.
