The letterbox Empty The letterbox

Post by Wendy Fri May 02, 2014 6:42 pm

What are yours like when something is posted through the letterbox? When my two hear somebody walking down the front garden path they both race to the door. Gus barks his head off and as soon as something starts to appear in the letterbox he grabs it and pulls it right out of the postie/paperboy's hand. Then he races around the house with it, I have yet to teach him to bring it straight to me and drop it. I have in the past found mail in places it shouldn't be!

Kuchar is fine - no barking and the papers and mail arrive unmolested.

However, my previous Dobermann (my "perfect" dog!) would, like most Dobermanns, yell her head off at anybody approaching the door, and newspapers and mail would be shredded. I fitted a letterbox cage to the inside of the door, so although it didn't stopped the yelling at least I got my papers and mail in one piece!

harvey couldn't care less, chance however goes apeshit and tries to bite hands, the letters whatever is being stuck through, but the postie knows of chance and knows not to stick their hand through at all just in case

Our front door is completely secured off, so the postman can't get to it. We use a box further down for our post. Dempsey would probably shred letters though, so we would have to use a letter cage to stop it.

Yes, I think he'd destroy the letters.

Bandit used to as well, so we put up one of those wire cages around the letterbox.

Gus doesn't shred them - he just races off with them in his mouth looking pleased with himself.
