Quarantine
One thing so many owners overlook are quarantine laws; they are important! In the UK, if your dog does not meet entry requirements, it will be quarantined until those requirements are met. All quarantine expenses are to be paid by the owner, including any medication and treatment costs. The owner is also required to book the premises.
Your dog may be quarantined under the following circumstances:
All quarantine facilities are required by law to provide care for animals according to the Animal Welfare Act (2006).
Your dog may be quarantined under the following circumstances:
- It does not have a required Rabies vaccination
- It has not been microchipped
- It has been microchipped after the required Rabies vaccination has been administered
- It has not received appropriate tapeworm treatment, according to the laws of the countries you are travelling to and from
- The microchip is faulty or the information inaccurate
If incorrect information has been provided in the travel documents
