Poor Axel Empty Poor Axel

Post by Shisa Sun Jun 01, 2014 5:31 pm

Poor boy has a sore front leg. He fell about 3/4 weeks ago and the leg will just get better and then he does something stupid.
It's a muscle but we can't figure which as all he does when you poke, pull, prod and squeeze is close his eyes and groan with pleasure.
I've put the UV massager on him now and he's passed out from bliss.

German Shepherds are real sissy's! Pugsley had his knees sliced open, pieces sawed off and moved, ligaments cut and reattached, metal nails hammered through his knee caps to hold them and never moaned ONCE!
Axel has to get up it sounds like his guts are spilling out.... D.R.A.M.A. King much?

Aww, poor thing! Hope he feels better soon!

When Demps has a strained or pulled muscle, I use heat compresses (hot water bottle) and cold compresses alternately. Then again, I'm not sure what the temperature is like at your end.

I do that with injuries as well.
It helped Pugsley massively when recuperating. His wounds healed in half the time Lequita's has. I just feel to sorry to put a freezing cold bag on her tummy. My poor dogs all know to lie quietly for the torture bags.
It's cool tonight so I've just done the heat massage. I'll see how he is in the morning and do both. I've also only given him a 1/4 dosage of his previous pain pills as when he doesn't feel his leg is sore he wrestles with and runs after Lequita and Spike.
I have a suspision it's the muscle from his chest to his armpit.

Poor boy! I always believe a small amount of discomfort is better than none, if the dog would be otherwise tempted to use the injured area.

Hope he recovers quickly!

Yeah, dogs can disregard a fair amount of pain and destroy the hurt joint or ligament.
Thanks. I'm sure he'll feel better in a day or so.

Makes it very difficult for owners, who automatically become the 'bad guy' in a dog's eyes when they stop them from playing!

Big :hugs: for Axel!

Poor Axel  hug I hope his leg heals quickly. It's difficult weighing up the pros and cons with their pain relief. At times like that I wish I could explain to them why I'm being so mean lol x

Yes, or make them understand why they shouldn't be hooligans!
He's much better this morning. Limping a bit but not crying when he has to get up.
He's being kept inside today so moaning about everyone running outside while he sits on the deck.

Chasing Lequita and getting tangled. I could for a moment not tell which limb belonged to which dog.

He's doing great. Still a slight limp but barely noticeable. I'm still keeping him as quiet as possible for another day or 2.
