How much does your cat eat?

I think my chilli is eating too much!

She's just 11 wks now & eating 200gms a day!   She'd eat more if I let her. She even steals the dogs while they are eating!!! Tyson is only on 300gm + 1/3 cup of dry! Jess has 400 + 1/2 cup dry for breaky.

How much does your cat eat? Full grown or kitten?

Mine self feed. I fill their bowls every morning (they don't empty them) and the 4 of them go through 2kgs of dry food every 6/7 days.
I give them a tablespoon of wet food at night as a treat.
Elvis and Hector weigh over 7kgs. Alex and Fasih weigh just over 4kgs.

500gms ea? All full grown? I cant do self feeds yet. She is too young to climb up for food away from the dogs, (well she could,  but i dont want to train her to climb/jump but she also likes eating between the dogs for meals.

So chilli is on well over then. Shes not fat, shes a big kitten but I would love to gauge on others kitties.

I have a spot on my kitchen counter for the cats (blocked off from rest by the microwave) with a low plastic barstool for them to jump on and then onto the counter.
With my kittens I put a diningroom chair against the counter then covered it with and secured a loose rug over the chair so they could climb up and down.
My dogs scoff the cat food so they have to eat high.
My mum has a loose kitchen unit for her cats and she built a little ladder for the kittens to get up and down with.

Chilli can get on the counter, she climbs the sides of the wood basket, up onto the wood pile & then up onto the bench.
But I daily have meat thawing. She is not allowed on benches & tables here.

But I have thought about the laundry dryer for her meals? My dogs already know they may nit push her out of her food. Jess.. care factor "0" tyson steps back & only cleans the bowl up once she leaves.

My cats have 50g of Raw 3 times a day each.
I always add water to their raw too  As they are not natural drinkers

Linda, do you find raw feeding a cat different to a dog?

Well
The dogs main diet is Chicken, Turkey, Kangaroo, Venison and Rabbit/Hare. A little Lamb, beef and tripe and fish are added occasionally.
As is their offal.
The cats diet is chicken, turkey, duck, quail and occasionally rabbit and fish. As is their offal.
With the cats I always add water, sometimes make a herbal tea like nettle or chamomile  
I feed the dogs twice a day and the cats 3 times a day.
They both have 70/80% meat/offal and 20% bone but the cats bone goes through a mincer unless its chicken which they manage well.
The cats food is always room temp too.

Our oldest died last year sadly but we have Logan who's 10
Shadow and Rainbow (brother and sister) are 8 and Odin who is 6
I add different oils to the diet, coconut, salmon and cod liver oil sometimes extra virgin olive oil. Now and again I pulverise some green beans and carrots to their diet for extra flavour, and they have goats milk once a week for a treat  
I dont add vitamins as I dont feel it neccessary but I may consider devils claw or tumeric for their joints if they become stiff later on.

I feed chilli 3 or 4x a day at the moment. Trying for 3. But she will go to 2x in the future.

What breeds are yours?
Chilli is a ragdoll x chinchilla. She drinks water very well & I often find her with her feet playing in the dogs water. But shes not so fond of milk... kitten nor human.

So sorry you lost one. I lost my cat mitzy (a black &wht moggy) many yrs ago now to cat aids. Broke my heart!

Goats milk is a wonderful idea! THANK YOU! Oils are also good. I added amino acids for when I fed my dogs raw.

All my cats are rescues, Logan is a s/h silver tabby, Shadow and Rainbow are s/h black and Odin is a s/h Tan tabby.
If she is eating dry she will need to consume large amounts of water as cats need moisture (which they naturally get from their diet) Have you tried goats milk or sheeps?
Mine dont have commercial food or treats but the odd bowl of milk goes down well.
I would love to feed mine up to 6 times a day but I can only manage 3

Thank you, we are still heart broken, she had an over active thyroid which we cured but then got fluid in her chest cavity (plural effusion)
which we did manage to control to a point but it was too much for her and she passed away in our arms-it was very quick thankfully. She was due at the vets next morning but decided different.
The dogs get veggies and fruit twice a week and a few extras

Chilli is only 11 wks. Though she is going to be a big cat. Shes currently eating 200gm a day! She mostly eats commercial wet food with a little raw ea day. Chicken, beef, pork or fish. Depends on what im making that day.  

She drinks plenty of water but not fussed by kitten or cow milk. I will try goat or sheep. I would like her to have some milk.

Hehehe, my dogs get carrots ea day after dinner & chilli is now trying to eat the scraps as she cant chew a carrot yet.

She thinks she is a dog!

Its true! Call her &she comes... throw the toy mouse or paper ball, toy, she brings it back like a pup, call her with the dogs for dinner... yep. Here's chilli! She even wakes us when tyson wants his breaky!!!  

Tyson tells her he is hungry by nuzzles up her bum till she wakes & pushes towards us.... chilli then tells us! Meow!!! I have laid there watching them to see if he is gentle with her. He actually tells her to get us up, then.... bickies pls. I hungry.

Cats that grow up with dogs are different.
I had cats then got Xan and then had kittens that he raised.
The second bunch that grew up with dogs have been much nicer, more social and lovable.
My first cats were much more typical cat, cats.

It makes perfect sense. I had cats when I lived in a flat &couldnt have dogs... chilli is a dog!

Tyson damn well knows I will wake if I hear chilli meow. Baby sound...what's wrong?
