Got Bella spayed :)
Internet is a bit erratic so I couldn't update yesterday. Bella was in to get spayed yesterday and it went well. She was having a hard time yesterday and was up most of the night crying and shaking, she's ok now but hating having to wear the cone of shame. She fell out with me yesterday, kept turning away from me and going to Karla for cuddles but I'm forgiven today. Until tonight I had to give her water out of a syringe, she was refusing to take it out of a bowl but I lowered the syringe towards the bowl and got her to drink that way. So glad she's had it done and she's ok

Glad she's ok and it's over and done. I thought about her yesterday.
She'll be bouncing about long before you want her to. If she doesn't lick the wound you can leave the collar off. They detest those things!

Poor girl, I'm glad it went well but they do feel sorry for themselves for a while afterwards!
I'd leave the cone off if you're supervising her - they can't be very comfortable.

Thanks everyone. She seems a bit better this morning Caryll, she slept better last night and went to get water herself which is a relief. Her face was quite puffy looking and she sounded like she had a cold but that's all ok this morning too I think I might take the cone off for a little while and see how she is.

It's awful seeing them like that for a day or so, but she'll soon bounce (literally) back!

Glad she ok.
If they have to do a spay near a heat cycle it's generally a bigger operation as all the blood vessels going to the womb enlarge. If she's had a few phantom pregnancies the womb is also bigger than a dog that's never had a heat.
She'll be a bit worse for wear.

Ah, Bella, you'll soon get over it and be so glad it's been done
If she can be trusted with her cone off, even for a little while, not to go for her stitches, then that will help Bella's spirits a lot.
Ten days (till the stitches come out) seem to last forever, but in my very limited experience bitches cope better than little wussy boys do!
I know it's a worry Caroline but it will soon be over and forgotten - wishing you good luck for the next few days

Tilly never wore a cone as she can't reach her wound as it was or her bits now , she was not built as a bendy . Pleased to see she's doing ok Caroline just got to keep her slow for at least a couple of weeks now , that's the tough task

With supervision, I think taking the cone off can really help! A happy dog heals more quickly!
