I hurt Dempsey! :(

I feel so terrible!   

I was taking the rubbish bad down the passage, about to put it out for collection, and had to step over Demps, who was laying in the passage. As I stepped over him, he sat up, colliding with the bag. The bag then bumped into a big, heavy wooden plaque-type thing hanging on the wall, which fell on Dempsey's paw.

There was a tiny squeak at first, really quiet, a lot like the sound of somebody swishing their fingernail over material. I thought it was just the sound of the bag hitting something. Then when I got past and put the bag down, he suddenly started squealing. I turned around and he was holding his paw in the air, crying.

Then to make matters worse, he ran away from me, looking terrified. I went after him and he went downstairs to hide.

He's okay, but I was so worried I'd really hurt him! I was close to tears!

Wimp.

 

Actually that's unfair - poor thing let out 5 or 6 really heartbreaking cries & ran away as though someone was about to beat him! He stood by the garden gate with his nose crushed against it, wanting to get out, and wagging his tail furiously.

Made both of us feel guilty as hell, even though it'd been his own fault!  

He's ok now, but he won't even look at Eleanor!

 

He's curled up by me at the moment - by the time he wakes up, he'll have forgotten all about it!

What a drama queen... maybe it's time you guys had a chat with him and explained that he's a BULL terrier and not a YORKSHIRE terrier ???   

Usually, I'd just make a fuss of him and tell him to stop being silly, but this time he'd actually really hurt himself. I still feel bad!

I think I'm forgiven. I gave him an egg for his lunch

Usually a quick fuss is all that's needed, but this time he actually ran away!   He tried to push his head through the garden gate poor thing!

Aww poor Dempsey. They really know how to guilt trip us don't they
