I knew about the risk of poisoning, but didn't know it could be passed from dog to cat days after the treatment was administered. Yikes!

Good to post that! Should be a sticky.
My vet warned me years ago to be careful of what products I used. If your cats groom your dogs you have to be even more careful.
There are so many people that don't read the label and spray/use the wrong treatments. Here where I live were people are so limited to the flea product available... we've had to have a few cats pts because of kidney failure.

The article dosent stipulate ingestable or dermis dispersed treatments? I am off to research as Chilli preens Tyson on a daily & I use dermis dispersed treatments.
I am well aware that dog treatments should never be used on cats but I didnt think of the oral transfer when they preen. Though I always tell my OH not to pat them and put hand to mouth after I put it on them.
