Mum and I might not be on much for a couple of weeks
We'll be moving house within the next month. It's short notice for us, but the new landlord is a prick. He's decided that he's going to take away our garden, as well as a large part of our downstairs area. Already have a huge extraction fan towering up outside my bedroom window, which makes enough noise to rattle the windows, blocks the view and reflects heat into the room, turning it into an oven. Because of all of this, and the fact that there just isn't any privacy anymore, moving house is the best option.
The stressful part will probably be the move itself, but I'm sure we'll cope well enough as a family. I've been a bit unsettled about it for the past couple of weeks, as I've grown up in this house and it's all I've ever known, but I'm looking forward to moving, tbh.
So if we're not around much, you know why!

Can he do that? You must have a lease with stipulations on the areas of the house & yard. Time frames. None the less.....

I'm sure it'll all go well! That's what I've been saying - family is what's important. The scariest part will be the change, and that will only last a few days. Home is where the heart is!
Our lease has just run out for this year! The two-faced prig didn't have the guts to tell us to our faces, so mum got a call from the agents instead, even though the new landlord had assured us that he'd be renewing the lease.
Mum has been looking at moving house anyway, before this came to light, so the only difference is there's a bit of a time restraint now!

Tracy's right of course - it's the people inside the walls that make it a home.
But I can understand what an upheaval it is for you all, and wish you all as stress-free move as is possible.

Thanks
I think the best thing to do is just to look at it positively and remember all the things we'll be able to do that we haven't been able to do before. Because of how our house is situated, we only have a back entrance/exit, which leads onto a gated stretch of land. When the doorbell goes/when post is delivered, it's a five minute walk around to the front of the house!
It'll be so nice to just open the front door, take the parcel from the postman and bugger off back inside!
The house we live in now is technically a two-bedroom, as well. My bedroom was a storage room! :lol; So it's really small and cramped. I'm looking forward to having a big bedroom! Even if it's small by most standards, it'll be bigger than what I'm used to!

I'll need to pull it apart, but that's not a problem. The only restriction was the limited space, so it'll be easy to reassemble. I'm going to delay getting Snuffles until after the move, to save him the stress.

It's also due to the move itself. If I have Snuffles with me, he'd need to be my first priority. I'd have to assemble all of his enclosure, as well as the bedding and enrichment, which could take a few hours. In the mean time, my family would be left doing all of the actual moving. Wouldn't be fair!

Re: Mum and I might not be on much for a couple of weeks
Moving is a huge stress for both people & our pets.
I always have one box for absolute necessity's, the kettle, tea, coffee, milk, cutlery, couple of plates & cups, some cold chicken & salad, pet food etc that is in my car, not the moving truck. Then no matter what... 1st thing I do is make my bed. Whatever gets does or dosent get done day one..... I have dinner & a bed.
Good idea to wait for snuggles. Keep in mind Demps will also wonder whats going on for awhile & could be alittle unsettled (Jess dosent care, long as I am there, the place matters not to her, but Tyson sits shaking even when I move furniture. & he's never actually moved house.)
Have you found a new house or are you still looking?

Moving is fun! I'm quite nomadic. I can pack, move and be unpacked in 4 days.
It comes from loads of experience though.

That's what we're going to do, as well. Take stuff down in the car, then the heavy lifting will be done by removal men.
Yeah, Demps panics a lot when suitcases come out. We're probably going to have to put him in a kennel for the moving day. There are some good ones locally and he doesn't seem to mind kennels, so it should be okay.
We're looking at a house today. Hopefully the inside will be as nice as it's described and we'll be able to put a deposit down!
I made it very clear to mum that my bed will be coming with me, even if it is broken at one end. I won't be able to sleep without my saggy, bumpy, creaky mattress!

Our house is unbelievably cluttered! Dad's a bit of a hoarder! Might take a few days for us to get it all moved into the new house! In a way, I'm looking forward to it. Starting fresh and everything!

Thanks! Fingers crossed it'll go well!
Shisa wrote:Are you moving far?
Not far, no. About fifteen minutes walking distance. We have to stay local because of mum's job, so it's convenient! Also very close to the fields we take Dempsey to sometimes, so he'll be able to go down there more often! Especially as the entrance closest to us is sort of a side entrance halfway up, so we can avoid all of the irresponsible owners, who take their dogs into the start of the fields and let them run riot.

Sounds like the move is a really good thing.
Best of luck
P.S: I hope the new house has more wood/laminate/tile flooring

I'm starting to really look forward to it! Will definitely miss our current house, but I prefer to look at it as an adventure, rather than leaving something behind.
NOOOOOOO! Every inch will be covered in carpet! No slippy, slidey floors!
