Ugh ugh ugh

Eleanor, get a spider catcher - basically a box on a stick with a sliding door. Plonk it over the horror and twizzle it round until the sliding door slides shut and traps the bugger. Run outside with it and up a few doors away from you and tip it out into the middle of a busy road. That's what I do.

If it doesn't (hopefully) get run over by a car, then at least the house it makes for won't be yours!

PS If you haven't yet got a catcher as I described, spray it with hairspray. Not nice I know, but needs must.

I don't want to kill him, but I also don't want him in my bedroom! Evil, hairy, twitchy beast!

The spider catcher sounds good! Will buy one for the future! Thanks happy

Would you let a mass murderer survive given the opportunity to cease the suffering of others ??? Same difference in my book or at least pull all his legs off so he can't come running back

If you want to live and thrive, let the spider run alive.

I have some big spiders (we call them rain spiders) that come into the house every now and then. I knock them off the wall with the broom and sweep them out the door. Thank you tile floors!!
They're huge; on average about the size of my outspread hand. Fairly harmless and keep to themself. But they do have huge pinchers and freaky reflecting red eyes.

Dave, you're more evil than the spider! shocked

See? Theresa's nice to spideys! happy

It's the only type of spider I've ever had a problem with. Don't know why. Probably because they want to kill me in my sleep or something. I'll be watching, though... The moment it steps out from its hiding place, I'll be ready with a glass! evil

Reminds me! Went into my bedroom the night before last and found a big spider on my bed. I thought it was dead, so I picked it up and flushed it down the toilet... Only it didn't flush away. tongue I looked down and realised it was alive and crawling up the side of the toilet bowl.

Sorry, spidey! laughing

Yes laughing Touching isn't a problem for me. I just don't like it when I turn my back for a second, only to find that they've scuttled off into some dark corner, where I can't see them. Because they always end up dangling above your pillow! worried

When I was little, I used to pick spiders up out of the garden and take them inside the house. tongue

The minute, literally, after I wrote last night about the spider catcher box and hairspray I caught sight of one on my floor to ceiling curtain. My spider box failed me as it has fallen apart since Kuchar chewed it last spider season (May) - thanks Kuchar. So the hairspray came out but the beggar dodged behind the curtain before I could freeze it in its tracks.

So you and I Eleanor both have the stuff of nightmares scuttling around our houses. Good luck to us both tearing hair

They're so quick, aren't they? :s

I don't mind just using a normal glass, but I couldn't reach last night, as the bugger was right in a top corner of my bedroom. Will arm myself with some sort of makeshift spidey-catching device tomorrow.

Linda I used to have a catcher thingy similar to that. It was a small vacuum with a lid but it met the same fate as yours with Millie.
