Rest in peace, Mousey
He died just now. When we first took him in, we didn't think he'd make it, but he's been doing so well. His last feed was slightly under two hours ago and he looked so strong then.
Crying my eyes out at the moment. I honestly didn't think I'd get this attached to him.

Bless.... we always get attached. If you have a heart, it will ache. Bles you for trying so much for him. I know you did the best for him you could do.

Re: Rest in peace, Mousey
Thank you, everyone I've finally finished crying, although I'm feeling very wobbly as I'm typing this.
Almost certain that he was rejected by his mother. I noticed the other day that he had little bite marks on his ears, feet and one on his shoulder. He was also very small. I suppose he was sickly to begin with, so nature kicked in and his mother focused on his siblings instead.
I've never had a huge interest in mice before, but this has really changed my perspective. I was so excited to see when his eyes would have opened, and to switch him over to a terrarium, give him his first solid food, etc.. I'm just glad that he passed away in a warm, comfortable nest with a full tummy.

We're going to bury him in the place we'd planned to set him free. Lovely, beautiful area.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks so I know a lot of people don't place much value on the life of a tiny animal, but to me, a life is a life.

A life is a life. No matter the size of our body. A soul is a soul.
