A really good article which poses some very pertinent questions...

It all comes down to: Be responsible for your dog. Be aware of what it can do even if you don't think it will.

I read an article the other day about why children are mostly bitten and to sum it up; they say kids have very rude 'dog manners'. They're loud and get int he dogs' face screeching and screaming and not all dogs bend the rules for kids.
Adults have to teach their kids to respect dogs, how to act around them, what dog behaviour is and to give them their space.
That said... adults can't even get their kids to act decent to other humans so...

Interesting article.

I, like anyone else, could come up with many many reasons why a dog could injure (or worse) a child, but the bottom line should surely be that no-one should ever ever ever allow even the most trusted dog of whatever breed access or close contact to a baby or child without the strictest supervision.

Children do need to be taught how to interact with dogs properly just as adults need to be taught to never leave a child unsupervised with any dog of any breed for any period of time. Be it 1 min or 1 hr.
