Oh heck - I can understand all sides of this. I guess this might turn out to be a test case.

Its needed, they need to understand. I hate the fact the poor dog will now be basically a science experiment and in kennels with no walking and human contact..it will most likely be VERY upset. But the sooner they find out the better for all involved...I just hope they at least try and give the dog some joy with toys or treats or even a radio... broken heart

On the radio this morning they had a vet comment about pet owners concerns of catching Ebola from their dogs. He said it's almost impossible to catch it from your dog but to make sure your dog was healthy with all vaccinations up to date so it can combat the disease if necessary.
People are just being paranoid.

They don't know for sure, I believe. There was only one study done which could properly contribute to the subject scientifically, so although nothing's been found to suggest that dogs can pass Ebola onto humans, the vet probably shouldn't have said that it was impossible. Particularly as that's a word that scientists hate! laughing

My thoughts are that if people can catch it from monkeys (which they seemingly do) and dogs can catch it from humans (which I'm told they can do) then it is reasonable to assume that the reverse can happen. This is such a dangerous disease that no risks should be taken until more is known, imho.

Agreed. I think there's a lot more research to be done, before they can give decent, peer-reviewed, decent p-value results in articles.
