This is just disgusting. It wasn't just one cashier, but 'staff' in general. The other customers, trying to help her, were also shouted down. And to offer a £20 voucher as compensation for the distress she suffered? Wow.

That's strange. You wouldn't think people would be so ignorant or that it would escalate so badly?

There are people that can't even find their own continent on a map so maybe there are people that don't know about guide dogs.
Someone should have known better though.
It does sound like she's only legally blind and not totally blind. They might have thought she was taking a chance.
Not that I'm excusing them. They should have begged forgiveness after finding out the truth.

If they work in a store as big as Tesco, somebody there should have known that guide dogs are allowed in.
If I saw a dog wearing the 'guide dog' harness, I'd sooner err on the side of caution and accept them, rather than discriminate against somebody. Although it's a shame that some people do take advantage.
