1 dog vs 2 or more
So I had a debate:
My friend said she doesn't want more than one dog because her dog would get less attention then.
I said that's not true. More dogs mean I have less time for myself. My dogs take up more of my time not more of 1 dogs time.
For example: if you spend 1 hour on your dog I now spend 7 hours on my dogs. I don't divide 1 hour between 7 and give them all less attention.
I'm talking one on one time. If your dogs are just laying about the house snoozing or out in the yard that's not time spent with you.
I also told her that my dogs are a lot less needy as there is always someone who wants to play and they don't constantly look to me for distraction.
What are your thoughts?

I think that's a very good attitude to have about it. I would only get another dog if I was sure that I would be able to give him/her as much individual attention as my current one. If, for some reason, I found myself looking after somebody else's dog, I'd make sure I gave up my own time to look after it, as well.

I love having multiple dogs - I give each as much attention as the other, and there's always room in my heart for just one more. Payback is unconditional love multiple times. My biggest fear is being with only one and that becoming none - I hate living in a dogless house; having just lost Aslan, I appreciate the other two even more.

We all have to recognise our own capabilities, and mine is one dog at a time.

I see the love / bond between mine & I don't think I'll ever have just one again. When I win lotto to pay for a permit..... then I'll have 3. I think that would be perfect for me. I could still give each one their one on one time, walk them all together etc.
