No, it's just farms around me. The Game Lodge is about 3 km away with big game.
There is some antelope (Duiker and Grey Rhebok), Rabbits, Jackal, Bat Eared Foxes, Eagles, Falcons, Hawks around.

Are the jackals a problem you have to watch out for?

Not for me but they are a big problem for the sheep farmers. They can kill 20 sheep/lambs in a night and will only eat the soft meat around the anus.
We have Black Backed Jackal here. They're beautiful, incredibly adaptable, have genius IQ and problem solving skills

I take it the genius iq isn't appreciated by the farmers?

No. You can't fool them with the same trick twice.
Because they're shot on sight only the sly-est ones survive and procreate. Evolution, survival of the fittest, working at it's best.

Dear heavens - and here was me thinking that jackals were only scavengers.

They're only opportunistic scavengers.
