How's your weather going?
First topic message reminder :
Summer has hit here with a vengeance.
It's been 37c - 40c over the last week & its going to get hotter. It's too bloody hot to even walk the dogs by 8 or 9am! The air con is on full blast & sleep is impossible the last few nights without air con (it was 24c last night) & even with a ceiling fan ... sleep does not come easily.
45c, 48c.... its coming along with more bushfires.
So... tell me your cool so I can imagine being cold.
I love the heat but, 40+, It's too freaking hot!

Talk about heat! Its been in the 33-38c all week here. One poor town in the outback in W.A is today expecting to hit 50c (You won't see a soul in that town today as they hide inside. Schools will be shut to.) We haven't been that hot here for 4yrs now when it was 48c. (We normally max at 42-45 in summer here.)But 48c! It may only be 3c diff but.....you know it! That is bloody HOT, its actually hard to catch a breath outside!
Though we do have a saying here... once its over 40c... its just plain stinking bloody hot!

I do hope you get some cooler weather soon Tracy. Aircon - in home, office and car - is a modern-day blessing to be grateful for.

Years ago we were camping in Messina on our way to the top part of Kruger. It was 36 degrees in the shade and around 48 in the sun.
I remember sitting with a bottle of schnapps and a bucket of ice, drinking one glass after the other and not even getting slightly tipsy. Everything just gets sweated out instantly. What a waste!

Strangely enough, I have had the opposite experience. One very hot afternoon in Greece I had a couple of glasses of ouzo (no more, honest guv!) That evening I was totally out of it and "woke up" in the middle of a taverna floor with my dinner in my hand not knowing where the heck I was. Fortunately a kind friend led me back to my table - and I've never touched ouzo since!

You know, I had the same experience on New Years Eve! Only had a couple of drinks (or three), but was suddenly drunk!

I love both ouzo & grappa. Especially the homemade ones!
Thank god for your friend though Lynda.

Yes Tracy, one of the most frightening experiences of my life. Never touched spirits in any way shape or form since!

It's horrible here today - strong winds and heavy rain in bursts. Nasty!
