Oh it never rains...
I've been offered a Laekenois puppy.
I emailed the breeder about 2 years ago and had forgotten as she had only just imported her pup.
I told her I can't afford a puppy at the moment with starting a new course, having a cat spayed and 2 dogs needing dentals done.
No - worries I can pay her later or in instalments. It's more important that the puppies go to good homes.
WTF do I do? I want one, but 9 dogs? !
There's only 2 in our country and this is the first litter being born.
I told her to email me again when she knows there will be puppies.
The bitch is being x-rayed and having all her outstanding health tests done tomorrow.
Then has to come on heat (another 2/3 months), be covered and take.
Loads of if's..

OMG I love them! They're scarce here as well.
How would 9 be too much different than 8? My only concern is whether the pup is from working or show lines. A work Laekenois is a real handful (all the working line Belgians are!).

I adore them as well.
The mum is pretty laid back but the dad is from work lines.
I've seen (and tried to help owners cope) with a few working Mallies and I don't know if I have the energy for one
That said there are 3 other high energy dogs on my property but they have 'off switches' that I have been told the Belgians do not come with...
There's a few months to decide.
I've been googling Laekenois vs Malinois and seems they're a bit more even tempered and calmer.

I've never come across a Laekenois, but I have known several Malinois and Groenendaels. The Mallies are definitely sharper, but I don't know how either compare with Laekenois. I don't envy you your decision, but as Caryll said, how is nine any more work than eight?

I need to win the lottery so that the way I keep busy and from being bored is to train my dogs. It should become my job

I've only ever met one Laekenois in my life - they are scarce here too.
If you hanker after one then go for it!

What must be will be. If I get a pup I get one and if I don't I don't. I'll leave this for fate to sort out or I'll drive myself crazy.

It would give you a lot of work, right from the start. Belgians are not easy dogs, but then neither are GSDs & you've coped well enough there.

We'll see what happens. There first has to be puppies.
The breeder sent me some photos of her girl and she is scrumptious.

Great dogs , originally used to guard linen drying in the field I see, used by Belgian cops now. But do you have time for another dog?

Seriously: Another dog won't really matter. Adding another 30 minutes training a day will only give me less time to lay around on my lazy fat ass
My dogs are all young so they play and keep each other entertained, get into trouble together...
I always say I'll have 10 of my dogs but not 3 of anyone elses.

Yes, I think when you have 1 or 2 dogs, another makes a big difference. But 8 to 9? Probably not.

Sometimes it feels like I only have 3 dogs (just 3 different ones at a time ) and other times it feels like I have 30 milling about, trying to murder trip me.

Lequita is the worst of the lot. She always quietly sneaks up and lays down right behind me, while I'm in the kitchen. She's actually always underfoot. She loves nothing more than when I rest my feet on her while watching tv or reading.
I actually hurt my back beginning of December trying to save myself from falling over backwards onto her.
