im very blah. i just uploaded my horses and road safety video to fb 4 hours ago and have had over 45 thousand views. Told mum and she just rolled her eyes likie oh who cares get a life.

This is pretty much her reaction to anything i do. Not matter what the achievement or act. I've literally never heard her say well done or thats good not even a little hmm. Always just a roll of the eyes and a sigh.

Its been a long 28years trying to please this woman. Im so deflated.

That's sad, Hayley.

But others DO appreciate you!

Mums are strange creatures, difficult to understand, and often don't show what they feel deep down. Maybe that's your mum?

I've been trying to get a 'well done' from either of my parents for 46 years. I've got to the point where I've given up trying, and stopped caring. Live your life the way you want to, achieve the things that you are passionate about, and stop worrying about what your mum, or anyone else for that matter, thinks. 45,000 people can't be wrong.

True, Lorraine. Sometimes you can waste too much time worrying about pleasing one or two people - concentrate on the people who do understand, appreciate & support you.

She's missing out. Assuming you're talking about the video you uploaded on Facebook, I thought it was amazing. Seriously gave me chills.

Maybe she is proud quietly.? My mum is not "in your face" proud but I know she sees what I do.

My dad was like that. We all define ourselves and our accomplishments by our parents reactions. It's hard to break away from that genetic, Stokholmy, eagerness to please but once you do ... freedom!
Find other people who's opinion you value and ask or tell them. Don't ask or tell your mum things that might hurt you, take away her power to hurt you by not giving her any.
