Mylo needs a new home :(
As most of you know we've held off as long as we can with this especially after Joseff's allergies.
Back in November my other half was involved in a horrible accident which has left him paralysed in one leg (no feeling in the left leg). Since then we've struggled with many things one of which is walking mylo. He was doing fine outside having the run of the garden but of late he's constantly escaping. We bought toys after toys to keep him entertained but we can no longer give mylo what he needs.
I don't want to sell him on animal pages as around here there are a lot of people buying dogs to use in fights.
I was thinking the rspca. But I'm still worried he'll end up with people who want him to fight.
I was hoping you may know of someone who is looking for a dog like mylo that they're able to give hi what he needs, he's amazing, can be a tad mischievous on times but what dog isn't?
Hope you can help

Re: Mylo needs a new home :(
I'm so sorry to hear about your OH's accident and hope he soon makes a full recovery.
I'm also sorry to hear that you are still struggling with Mylo. I know what it's like to have dog that is hell-bent on escaping, and have in fact only just this minute got back from chasing Kuchar over half of southern England - again!
If you really must rehome Mylo, please contact Dogs Trust in the first instance https://www.dogstrust.org.uk/
They don't put dogs down, and as far as I'm aware are really careful about rehoming.

Re: Mylo needs a new home :(
Unfortunately he won't he's got nerve damage, he's lucky he can still walk. It's his works fault. They didn't give the van he drove the service it needed as they needed the van that day. The brakes and steering failed making Anthony drive up a bank and flip the van several times.
It's a night mare isn't it! Carrots are the only way to coax him back in!
I feel so guilty, Ive been looking for new houses for us and everything. I love him too much to rehome him. But it's simply not fair on him at the moment

Re: Mylo needs a new home :(
Oh heck, what a terrible accident. Please try not to despair, nerves CAN and do grow back, albeit slowly, so hopefully there will be some improvement eventually. But of course your doctors have the full details and will be advising you both, and I can only send you my very best wishes for a better outcome in the future
Now, I'm going to be brutally honest here. If the accident can be proved as being the fault of his works (due to lack of maintenance of the van), then Anthony will be due oodles of compensation. Which should at least cover the cost of dog-walking. I do hope that you are pursuing this?

Re: Mylo needs a new home :(
Our doctors and consultants aren't very forthcoming in information.
We're currently going through a solicitor for this yes. The company anthony works for is very large (asda) and whilst he was off refused to pay him anything other than sick pay.
Our savings have been ruined.
I didn't think that the claim would cover the here and now? If it can, I'll definitely do it get them to pay for a dog walker

I can't afford anything like that. I'm a student, look after a one year old, I don't work, anthony is now earning half of what he was

Re: Mylo needs a new home :(
Oh, Shawnee that's heartbreaking - both for Anthony and Mylo.
Have the solicitors given you any idea of a time scale for a payout? Or maybe they could badger Asda for an interim payment to help you both out? At least that would give short term respite re: walking Mylo.
Mylo's an intelligent dog, isn't he? If that's the case, try contacting a local KC registered training club to see if anyone is looking for a dog to train for obedience/agility - it's a long shot, but might give results! they might even know someone who can spend a bit of time exercising/training Mylo for free?

Look up a local breed specific rescue. Never go to the rapca

Re: Mylo needs a new home :(
Asda won't do anything. They're a joke. They wouldn't even waver the home delivery charge when anthony was in hospital because I couldn't collect the order we clicked and collected lol (it's £2.50) I was happy to pay but the solicitor said they'd wavier it. But didn't.
How do I go about that Caryll? Indont think he's kc registered?
Oh he's stupidly intelligent.
It's a heartbreaking decision, he's so amazing with Joseff. They're little monkies together

He doesn't have to be KC registered, the club does purely so that you know they are bone fide .
Just search the KC website for a training club near you and give them a ring. It may come to nothing, but it's worth a shot.

Re: Mylo needs a new home :(
Kennel club can't do anything
I don't know what to do guys
Anthony has now been dismissed from asda, which we're going to appeal as its unfair.
There's so much stress here, I really don't know what to do about mylo. RSPCA around by me won't take him as he's not been abused..

Re: Mylo needs a new home :(
That is dreadful, Shawnee; Asda should be ashamed of themselves. I hope you've got an on-the-ball solicitor who will be successful in getting you massive compo.
Re Mylo - I've looked at the Dogs Trust website and they suggest that you phone your nearest centre and talk to them in the first instance. They can't guarantee to take in a dog straight away if they're full up, but I think they are the best option as they never put a healthy dog down.
Whereabouts in the country are you?

They should be. I hope so! Our solicitor seems great, Si fingers crossed there.
I couldn't find anything on their web page lol.
I'm in Swansea, Wales. I'm not sure where the nearest one is to me
Oh he's perfectly healthy!

I'll phone them tomorrow, see what they say. Thank you x
He's starting to get really whiny too, next door have decided to start their extension, meaning we can't leave mylo outside now as he just barks and barks and barks.
Mylo is a collie cross husky? that's just for staffs isn't it?

Re: Mylo needs a new home :(
That's okay! Easy mistake.
We're on all the waiting lists for rehoming
Also, Anthony's friends friend is looking for a buddy for her dog as her other dog passed away of old age. We're hoping to meet them over the next few days to see how mylo gets along with her pooch. And hopefully, if all goes well he'll have a loving home in which we can visit every now and then

Sorry to hear you're having trouble. This is clearly something you've deliberated over and not just a spur-of-the-moment thing, so I respect your decision and sympathise.
The idea about Anthony's friend is good! I hope that works out for you. All I can otherwise do is echo what others have said about finding a good rescue shelter.
