I am such a bad mummy.
We were at the park.
Just Tyson & I. Jess was at home, she was sleeping.
We'd walked for 45 mins, went to the park for him to have "free time" off lead play. He went mental... running, jumping, barking, etc. He was nuts!
He found a stick & I threw it so many times for him. He sucks at the return as he normally just chases it, grabs it & buggers off with it.
I picked it up to throw for him, as I threw it I smacked him in the head.
Now he has a cut under his eye. Its only superficial but.... ohhhh, my baby!
Edit: why does auto type always misspell words?

Poor Tyson - poor you!
I'll never forget throwing a stick for my Dobie. She caught it in her jaws perfectly, and both ends snapped off, leaving the middle bit stuck between her teeth, across the roof of her mouth! Being a clever dog she ran to me immediately and I was able to prise it loose, and like you I felt like a bad mummy

Tyson really dosent care but I feel awful. Today he has a little scab under his eye.
Ouch! I try to throw it so it hits the ground for just this reason. Was she ok? Did it cut her gums?

Re: I am such a bad mummy.
Yes she was OK thank you, and her gums were OK, but the remains of the stick was lodged quite tightly across the roof of her mouth so took a bit of jiggling to dislodge. She was a feisty little mare and didn't take liberties about her person lightly, but she knew she was in trouble and was so good about having her mouth mauled about.
I must admit that I was very careful about sticks thereafter; they are splintery and unpredictable!
Tyson's a tough boy, he probably doesn't even notice the scratch under his eye. Stop beating yourself up

Re: I am such a bad mummy.
So glad she was ok. I train mine to look up at me & let me "fish" in their mouths. But a wedged stick is something else for both.
I know, hes fine, I feel 10xs worse. He really dosent care at all. Not then, not now. But staffies don't show pain even if they are in it. I'm just feeling guilty for hurting my little man.

Re: I am such a bad mummy.
Yeah, yeah... keep telling yourself that
At a obedience competition I had to throw Xan his dumbbell. I don't know what happened but I threw it straight up in the air and it almost hit the judge standing behind me. I had to take a 5 min break so everyone could stop laughing.
So fecking embarrassing.
