Hi, lovely to see you again
Well done on the forthcoming Brandon production; looking forward to "meeting" him!
(PS don't worry, I was induced with both my human babies - it just means a bit longer in hospital is all! [before, not after!])

Re: Hey everyone :).
I hope inducing isn't the same as it was 20 years ago - when I had my son there was a girl being induced & her labour lasted almost 48 hours!

Re: Hey everyone :).
I'm sure things have improved Caryll! I was induced 43 and 40 years ago by Artificial Rupture of the Membranes (ie "breaking the waters, which isn't painful btw) and yes my labours were long (55 hours and 16 hours respectively) but I'm sure I'd still be pregnant today if it hadn't have been done! They were just too cosy in there! And this includes the early stages of labour which, whilst uncomfortable for a minute or so every now and then, isn't unbearable. The part where it nips a bit, towards the end of the first stage, didn't take longer than a "normal" labour and these days an epidural is available at the drop of a hat.
So don't worry Shelly, Caryll and I are dinosaurs (sorry Caryll! please forgive me!) and great progresses have been made since we whelped. EVERY care will be taken of you and your bundle of joy will be in your arms with the least possible discomfort.

I'm sure it'll be fine! From what I've been told, gas and air is quite effective on its own!

Lynda's right, we're dinosaurs!
I didn't have an epidural with either of mine. I had nothing at all with my son & gas & air with Eleanor - the gas & air was good because I was in control & only used it when I wanted. The feeling is odd - you know it still hurts, you just don't give a damn!!!!!

I have every confidence that your birth experience will be as pleasurable as modern obstetrics can make it! Relax and don't worry Shelly

Don't worry about that - Eleanor was over 8lb 7oz when she was born & it wasn't a problem. I was over 9lb & my mum said it wasn't any different to a smaller baby!
