Denmark have banned the ritual slaughter of non-stunned animals.

I totally agree with the move - there is no need for it. Once again, the extremists are using it for their own ends, though - PETA (I really don't like them!) have said that no animals should be killed for food, and that the only humane thing to do is to all become vegans, and the extremist Isaeli Jews are saying that it's Eurpean anti-sematism, which is rubbish. All the new law is doing is banning the slughter of non-stunned animals. The Jews themselves have said that an animal that is stunned by a non penetrating bolt is still kosher, and that is still to be allowed.

Re: Denmark have banned the ritual slaughter of animals
About time!
I'm all for the work PETA do to protect animals, but they take it too far sometimes. Humans are naturally omnivorous; not obligatory, but their digestive systems (including teeth) are able to break down meat. So why shouldn't they eat it if that's what they prefer? I'm a vegetarian, but I don't expect everybody else to adjust a large part of their lives to suit mine.
And as for the 'anti-sematic' rubbish, it has nothing to do with whether or not somebody likes their or respects their culture. It's about cruelty to animals and overcoming it.
