My puppy ate something inappropriate, what to do now?
So I have a 4 month old tibetan spaniel. He threw up this morning and I saw him eat the vomit and I couldn't take it off his mouth anymore. I read that it's common for puppies to eat their vomit so I didn't get worried. I'm trying to teach him to be housebroken and he was starting to find a place to poo inside so I went out with him. He's still a bit scared there. I was out with him for 1 and a half hours until he finally did poo and I praised him so much but then he kept pooing and I noticed there's like a 1 cm wide string coming out and I couldn't pull it out. Anyway he was whining and was in pain and I carried him home, then it finally got out, a 25 cm long string covered in poo so I wouldn't even check what it was. I washed him and now he seems okay. But I got traumas from this. We were at my sister's yesterday and my puppy had taken a diaper while he was there and we were out and he had eaten it a little. (I didn't leave the wc door open) so it could be from a diaper, otherwise I don't know.. I feel like such a bad dog owner. I'm crying and my dog is fine but oh.. I'm just upset. He drank water. Can I give him food today or only tomorrow? Go on, attack me, its probably my fault, shouldn't have left my puppy alone in a place he hasn't been before.

Goodness me, nobody's going to attack you! Mistakes happen & we learn from them.
If your pup is eating & drinking ok, and is lively and happy then I doubt that you have anything to worry about.
Just keep an eye on him fir the next couple of days. If he suddenly starts to look 'off' or he can't eat or drink without throwing up, then take him to the vets.
Otherwise, put it down to experience. We all make mistakes, and pups will always get into things they shouldn't; don't beat yourself up over it.

First of all, dog ownership very often involves trial and error! We've all made mistakes and that's no reason for persecution! My dog is very orally fixated and I also once had to pull out a very long piece of ribbon from his rear end, so please don't be too hard on yourself! It's all a learning curve, so when something like this happens, you can learn from it and prevent it from happening again!
It's possible that the string was the cause of the vomiting. Ingesting fabrics can cause irritation to the stomach, leading to nausea. Very often, puppies will ingest their vomit, which is thought to be an instinctual behaviour to avoid food wastage. This can be trained out, so don't worry!
As has already been said, if he's drinking normally and his appetite is normal, he'll probably be alright if you keep an eye on him for a couple of days. If he's his usual self (not displaying any symptoms of ill health), he should be alright to have some food today.
I do understand your reaction; these things can be very frightening! It doesn't make you a bad owner, though.

As your pup is still very young, I'd keep on with his normal feeds. As I said, just keep an eye on him, but he should be ok.
What's his name, by the way?
P.S.
Not too long ago my own dog threw something up - it was a pair of ladies underwear! So don't think you're the only one that takes their eye off their dog for a minute & then regrets it!

How's he doing it's amazing what they get up to almost like you should never let them out in the world but they have to learn, thankfully up to now all I have had to do is assist them both on a grass exit
