Dog bites young child - appeal to save dog's life due to unusual circumstances

When I started reading this, I did think that the dog was a huge risk. However, reading further into the article, it sounds like the dog was basically starved - the child took away possibly the only food the dog had had in days, so possession instinct kicked in. I feel terrible for the poor child, as well. The babysitter should never have allowed the child to wander over to a healthy dog, let alone a starving one, and take away its food. I hope the owner of this dog is also charged for neglect and failing to control his dog.

The trouble is that he's severely injured a child. I don't think he'll be allowed to live, to be honest; he'll probably be considered too high risk.

It's one of those times where I genuinely don't know what to think.
