Bradlaugh Fields
About a 15 minute walk from us is a place called Bradlaugh Fields. It's made up of an ancient quarry (named Hills & Hollows), a disused golf course and some ancient common land (named Scrub Fields) which has hedgerows that have been dated, unchanged, since the middle ages! Lovely place as long as you get there early-ish. Otherwise it gets full of numpties who just let their dogs run riot!
So, here we are...
Hills & Hollows
Looking back towards Hills & Hollows from the start of the Golf Course
Part of the old Golf Course
Looking towards Scrub Field
Scrub Fields
I'm the King of the Castle!
And result.....

Re: Bradlaugh Fields
We met a Clumber Spaniel with no manners that Dempsey really flew at. "It's ok, she's friendly!" and "Let him off the lead, he'll only tell her off!" Both these were shouted over the top of Dempsey's best, full on 'Come here, pea brain, I want to eat your head!' Idiot.
Then we came across a very young black Labrador (about 5 months old, at a guess), and they had a bit of a play.
Just before we came home we met a tiny jack Russell - they were introduced slowly & carefully & Dempsey did his spinning routine followed by pathetic whines! I didn't let him off lead because the Russell was so tiny! He also had a border collie with him which he told to lie down. It did. Then every so often he slithered over to where Dempsey & the Russell were having fun, and was told "Hop it!" upon which he inched sideways to a safer distance like a good boy!!

It's a lovely place! Shame some (a lot) of the dog owners over there are so irresponsible.

Re: Bradlaugh Fields
Yep, but for some reason this place attracts the most pig-ignorant people you could find! Over the nearby park, you get the regular irresponsible owners who just don't care. Over Bradlaugh Fields, however, a lot of the owners there (particularly collie owners) think they own the place and have more right to be there than anybody else. If they see somebody over there who isn't a regular, they'll go out of their way to make it difficult for them! Idiots.

Re: Bradlaugh Fields
Very pathetic people! Who, unfortunately, bring about a bad reputation for other collie owners.

Re: Bradlaugh Fields
Such a shame. I love collies; gorgeous dogs! With such an intelligent breed, the owner needs to take responsibility and train them. There's no excuse for it.
It's a great place! Unfortunately, it's also where Dempsey gained his fear of bikes when he was a youngster. Down the path alongside it, somebody came racing along on a bike, with a black Labrador-type dog. The bike scared the hell out of Dempsey and then the dog flew over and started humping his head. Ever since then, he's been wary of medium-large black dogs and terrified of bikes.

He's not quite so bad now. Have to be a little careful with bikes, but otherwise we just keep an eye on him!
