I don't know how I'd cope if something like that happened to Dempsey. sad I feel so horrible for that poor family!

I understand that mistakes happen, but the vet could have at least shown some remorse!

O!M!G! I would kill my vet and then sue his mutilated, mangled corpse.

That kind of mistake should never happen!  The vet would be PTS if it was one of mine. There's no room for misunderstanding there.

The only thing I can think of (and this doesn't excuse what's happened) is that the dog, being elderly & having a persistent cough, may well have been in the throes of heart failure. Maybe the vet thought that what he was doing was for the best - maybe he even thought that was why the dog had been brought back in?

Either way, it shouldn't have happened. sad

Gross misconduct by the vet.

No way should a killer injection been "mistaken" for an antibiotic.

When our poor little puppy Trigger was struggling for life and breath against congenital emphysema, our vet had the decency to phone me to tell me the results of his tests and discuss the hopelessness of his case, and during the same conversation was called away to Trigger who had collapsed again and whilst fleeing to him begged me for permission to allow him a peaceful release.

I feel SO sorry for this dog's family being treated in such a cavalier attitude.

Lynda, that's the way I would expect a vet to behave - not just give a lethal injection!

I just don't understand why the owner didnt say "sorry what are you injecting"

I never let the vet injct my animal without asking specifically what is the fluid!

In another article he says he thought the vet was giving the dog meds.

Yes, in a prior discussion, he'd been told that the dog would be receiving treatment for a condition.
