Warning: There is a video in the article which is likely to be distressing; the dog sustains an injury while trying to escape. Blood is visible running down the side of the car in the still-frame of the video. Aside from the blood, the video may still be distressing to some people due to the distress of the dog.
Poor thing!

There are certain basics all car users should know. One of them is that the inside of a car parked in the sun with its windows closed or nearly closed can quickly get very hot, hot enough to kill a person or, in this case, an animal.
This is frightenly obvious from a video posted to Youtube in which a dog is seen panting and gasping for air in a car parked outside a Uttardit hospital on a hot day.
The one-minute video was uploaded on Monday by a Facebook user who went by the name Nice's Pumkin. She wrote that she and her parents saw the dog struggling to poke its head out of the partially opened window.
Passersby tried to help the distressed dog by pouring drinking water into the its mouth. The dog continued to writhe in discomfort and then suddenly bit its tongue, causing it to bleed profusely.
"My parents and I found out that the dog had been inside the car for about three to four hours and the dog appeared thirsty and in pain. The weather was about 40 degrees Celsius at the time," Nice's Pumkin wrote.
She also asked people who have pets to treat them properly.
"The dog survived, but it might not have made it if rescuers came a little later," she wrote.
Not surprisingly, the video has prompted many angry comments in the social media, one writer even suggesting the dog owner should be forced to sit in a hot car to see what it is like.
On Sanook.com web board, however, an Internet user who went by the name Khon Liang Ma (Dog Raiser) wrote that the owner was probably just careless and did not mean to torture the dog. Hopefully, he/she has learned a lesson.
Poor thing!

How awful! So glad that the dog survived - but maybe the owner should have been made to give the dog up so that it could be properly cared for in future?

So am I. In my opinion, the owner shouldn't be allowed to keep the dog. I accept that it was an accident, but the owner should have known not to leave the dog in a car - especially considering the country and its weather!
