Rolf Harris found guilty, to be sentenced

Can't say as I'm surprised, after everything that's come to light during the trial. Still a horrible thought though. I grew up watching Rolf Harris' programmes. When the Jimmy Saville incidents were revealed, I think people could sort-of see the truth behind it from the way he behaved. Rolf Harris, though, is somebody I never would have guessed would do something like that.

I am very shocked. I wasn't too surprised about Jimmy Savile but I am about Rolf. I am so disappointed.

I won't lie and say that I could have pointed at Savile and said that he was a sexual predator, but, like you said, I wasn't exactly surprised out of my mind when it came out. It never, ever crossed my mind that Rolf Harris could have done what he did though. I'm still shocked, tbh.

When the story first came out that Rolf Harris was being charged with these offences I was so horrified - it was almost like accusing the Pope! Of all the men in all the world Rolf Harris was one of the last I would ever have imagined doing such things. I thought at the time that it was probably a lot of silly and money-seeking women jumping on the Jimmy Savile bandwagon. Then came the confession that he had had "an affair" with his daughter's best friend when she was just over the age of consent, which was creepy.

I don't think he helped his cause either by coming over the big "I am" when he first entered the witness box, and singing and dancing.

Yes, he was always such a 'good guy' entertainer! Savile I could understand - but Rolf Harris? I would never have guessed it.

I was shocked about Rolf Harris too, I grew up watching him on tv. I wasn't really shocked about Savile, apart from the scale of it. There just seems to be more and more emerging all the time.

I did wonder if he was trying to make some sort of insanity plea when he started the singing and dancing in court.

When somebody so well-known for his kindness (helping children, presenting animal programmes, etc.) is found out to be a sex offender, I think it hurts a lot of people. I feel so sorry for his victims.

After what he did. Sorry, I dont really care about his age. How many yrs has he lived free after the fact?

These tv personalities get a god-complex and think they can do what they want and that normal rules don't apply to them.

Not really. He'll be in jail. Let him rot there!

I'm talking about in the case that he gets a shortened sentence. I don't think he should, but if he does, at least people will know what sort of person he is.

Probably not as big of a sentence as somebody half his age. There'd be too much concern for him dying in prison. No concern given to his victims on his behalf, though. Personally, I don't care if he dies in prison. That man potentially destroyed lives.

Yes he did. & being twice the age of others that commit the same crime is absolutely no excuse for leniency!
But  I'd be surprised if he gets 10 yrs,. Even if I believe he should serve more.

Today's the day! I have to admit I have a soft spot for him and old people in general. and when he goes to jail know he will get a very hard time. I don't like the thought of old people in normal jail, they are not physically up to it. Perhaps they can build a old people jail, with a big glass house and they can make all the hanging baskets for the council. Sometimes I'm dubious about these cases cause of the celeb thing, people jumping on the wagon, but there was too much proof on this one.

I think there were several people accused without foundation, Freddie Starr was one, and he's a broken man, despite being totally exonerated!

But Harris is guilty beyond doubt - he even had recent indecent pics of children on his computer, so it's not as if he'd seen the error of his ways. I do feel sorry for his family, though - they will suffer as well.

He deserves what he gets, in an ordinary prison. Why should he have it easy just because of his age? He committed despicable crimes against vulnerable people, let him pay for it the same way others younger than him do.

IMO, a paedophile is a paedophile and deserves a prison sentence for acting on his or her impulses. And prison is prison, not a holiday camp.

He should have thought about the consequences before he decided to ruin young lives.
