I'm hopeless, but I saw it on Dempsey's walk the other day & just thought it was pretty! It's quite a large, shrubby type of plant.

shocked That is a bottle brush! It's an Aussie native. What is it doing over there?   worried It needs a hot dry climate to grow well, (well apparently not)  as that looks lovely.... (It will die in the cold here till established!!!)

We have them here in most gardens. I havent watered mine in 6 yrs. But mine is yellow.

How the...... do you have them there?

Nah, we do get them sometimes down here - just not very often and not growing wild. We've had a very good summer this year.

I don't know! It's in the front garden of a house down the road. I've never noticed it before, but it's gorgeous!

Our natives like hard rain. Soaks in deep into the ground. We don't water plants we soak  them so the roots grow deep, not wide.
Here's a Grevillea. One of my favourite flowering natives.
Our native birds just love this & the bottle brush. + a few others.

Nothing flash as a plant, but when they flower, bottle bushes are beautiful.

I love to watch the hunny suckers enjoy the flowers.

We also have them here as a garden shrub. Very popular.
I don't like them because they're always full of bees.

Missy is allergic to bee stings so anything that attracts them = dug up and off to the rubbish dump.
